Ingredients
- 250g of butter, chopped
- 250g of dark chocolate
- 2 cups of caster sugar
- 1 1/3 cups of water
- 1 teaspoon of instant coffee
- 3/4 cup of plain four
- 3/4 cup of self raising flour
- 1/4 cup of cocoa
- 3 eggs, lightly beaten
Method
- In a large saucepan, put butter, chocolate, caster sugar, water and instant coffee.
- Melt together over a low heat. Allow to cool for 10 minutes.
- Sift both flours and cocoa into a large mixing bowl.
- Pour in the chocolate liquid mix and mix gently.
- Add eggs and stir through.
- Pour into a well greased cake tin and place in the oven on 150'c for 1.5 - 2 hours.
Frosting
Ingredients
- 120 grams of butter
- 2 ½ cups of icing sugar
- ½ cup of cocoa
- 1/3 cup of milk
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
Method
- Chop the butter, place it in a bowl and cream it using an electric mixer or wooden spoon.
- Add the cocoa and the icing sugar a little at a time and beat into the butter.
- Add the milk and vanilla essence, mix until smooth and light.
